Dear Art Lovers,

From February 21 until September 8, 2013, we are able to enjoy an amazing collection of paintings at Milan's Palazzo Reale. The exhibition Modigliani and the artists of Montparnasse is dedicated to Amedeo Modigliani and other artists who made the history of the 20th century art. Almost 200 paintings by Modigliani, André Derain, Chaim SoutineJeanne HébuterneMaurice Utrillo, Suzanne Valadon, Moïse Kisling aim to recreate the atmosphere of the 1900 Montparnasse, the area of Paris where prominent artists, writers, poets gathered and created.

The majority of the masterpieces belong to the collection of Jonas Netter. He was one of the very first to acquire works by Modigliani, taking over from Paul Alexandre, who had supported him until then. Netter became so passionate about the artist, that he acquired about 40 paintings and helped to create the fame and legend of Modigliani, Soutine and the artists of Montparnasse.
