Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Dance at Bougival, 1883, oil on canvas, 98 x 182 cm, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, USA.
While living and working in Montmartre, Renoir employed as a model Suzanne Valadon, who posed for a number of his paintings, including Dance at Bougival. She posed also for many of Renoir’s fellow painters while studying their techniques; eventually she became one of the leading painters of the day.
